New creative industrial zone taking shape on Xinhua Road

An artist’s rendition of a cultural and creative industrial zone, called T XINHUA, in Changning District was published by the Shanghai Garment Group recently.

The zone is at 68, Lane 569, Xinhua Road and contiguous to Donghua University and the business circle around the Baodi Xinhua building. It is near Metro Lines 3, 4 and 10.

The project is supported by Changning’s state-owned assets supervision and administration commission. It was Shanghai Bicycle Fittings Factory with one main building and two ancillary buildings. In 2002, it was turned into the Changrong building for foreign business affairs.

Because the road in the zone is narrow and the building is old with few parking areas, a special modification scheme for this area was worked out.

T XINHUA will become an East-meets-West haipai, or Shanghai-style, office space with modern elements, including light, shadow and catwalk.

The five-story main building of T XINHUA will be ecological. Its large French windows and skylights will maximize the use of natural light sources to reduce energy consumption. The three structures will be connected and have walls with green plants and lawns.

Xinhua Road is one of the most cultural and fashionable streets in the district. The modification is expected to turn the zone into a new landmark in the area.
