Key base for specialized TCM services to be set up in Changning

The Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, the Changning District Health Commission and leading units of the four TCM medical alliances recently held a meeting at Changning District Tianshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to officially launch the “one district, one brand” initiative. Construction of a key base for TCM specialty services at the hospital also officially kicked off.

As the only TCM general hospital in Changning, Tianshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine will build a key base for TCM specialist services and promote the construction of four regional TCM medical alliances, allowing district residents to enjoy more high-quality TCM services.

“The purpose of building a key base for specialized TCM services is to give full play to the pivotal role of Tianshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other hospitals in Changning under the leadership of Longhua Hospital,” said Ma Qiayi, president of Tianshan Hospital, adding that the hospital will first focus on its oncology department.

According to the municipal health commission, the city will construct a city-wide three-level service network of TCM medical alliances. Longhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, together with Xuhui, Changning, Minhang, Fengxian and Jinshan districts, will form the South TCM Medical Alliance. District-level TCM hospitals in the alliance will offer advantageous treatment for at least three kinds of diseases.
