Local cinemas to air SIFF films

The Changning-based Shanghai Film Art Center, Hongqiao Art Center and Palace Cinema (Raffles City Changning) will screen an array of films during the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival from June 11 to 20.


Shanghai Film Art Center at 160 Xinhua Road is the first five-star cinema in Shanghai and the first multi-hall cinema in China. With an area of 14,000 square meters, it is one of the largest cinemas in China.

During the festival, hall No.1 is usually used to show blockbusters, while hall No.2 holds the premiere and meet-and-greet of Golden Goblet Award films.


Hongqiao Art Center at 888 Tianshan Road is also a regular place for film screening during the annual Shanghai International Film Festival. The largest showroom on the first floor always welcomes the fans during the festival.


Palace Cinema (Raffles City Changning) is the seventh high-end cinema built by Hong Kong Broadway Circuit in Shanghai. At 701-703, 7th floor, 1123 Changning Road, it is the first RealD cinema in Shanghai.


The 24th Shanghai International Film Festival will raise its curtain on June 11 and run through June 20, to offer films and events to promote cultural exchanges and propel the domestic film industry.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Tying to this historic moment when the glorious past meets the future of a new centennial journey, the festival will unfold the great historical journey of the Chinese people from standing up to gaining prosperity and strength, under the leadership of the CPC.

Responding to the Belt and Road Initiative, the SIFF initiated the establishment of the Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance and the Belt and Road Film Week in 2018.

This year, the Belt and Road Film Week will exhibit a series of films recommended by the Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance.

And the screening activities will be extended to five more cities of Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing and Hefei.

Film companies and shooting bases in the Yangtze River Delta region will have business negotiations and seek possibilities for in-depth industry cooperation.

During the festival, more than 400 films will be screened around the city.
