Hongqiao Int’l Airport’s VIP Room Opens to Economy Class Passengers

After finishing a decoration project lasting for one year, on June 1, the V1 VIP Room in Hongqiao International Airport T2 opened to passengers again, and this is the first time that Hongqiao International Airport opens its V1 VIP Room to economy class passengers. Previously, V1 VIP Room opened to first class and business class passengers and passengers with VIP cards only. On the Double Five Shopping Season, the V1 VIP Room also joins the city’s discount and promotion campaigns, and offers online discounts to business travelers and passengers craving for individualized service.

Since the V1 VIP Room, operated by Shanghai Airport Group, opened to passengers in March 2010, it receives over 1,200 passengers every day and so far, it has received over 3.9 million passengers in total. After the renovation project, the new VIP Room covers an area of nearly 1,000 square meters and offers cozy environment for 230 passengers at the same time. Catering service is also redesigned. Here, passengers could enjoy delicious Shanghai cuisine prepared by “Su-Zhe-Hui”, a well-known Michelin-starred restaurant in Shanghai. Passengers boarding on early flights could enjoy traditional Shanghai snacks prepared by professional pastry cooks, e.g. glutinous rice cake, green onion pie, wonton and rice dumpling soup with sweet fermented rice. Early bird passengers boarding on flights before 7:00 a.m. could enjoy breakfast, a bowl of noodle, in the V1 VIP Room, so as to avoid the rush hour in the morning and have a nice day from the airport.

To respond to the “Double Five Shopping Season” advocated by Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Airport VIP Company launched several promotion campaigns on the first week since the V1 VIP Room opened to the public. The airport’s VIP service, including fast track, delicious food, snacks and drinks, cost RMB450 previously. Now it costs RMB99 only for passengers and RMB66 for passengers on early flights before 7:00 a.m. Early bird breakfast, served at limited hours with limited quantity before 12:00 a.m., costs RMB9.9 only for each passenger.

Passenger flow continues to rise in Shanghais two airports since May. Average daily passenger flow exceeds 60,000 in Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, rising to nearly 60 percent of the figure in the same period of last year. Domestic flight passenger flow also rises steadily in Pudong International Airport. Shanghai Airport VIP Service Company, taking the reopening to business of the V1 VIP Room, will offer high quality service to all passengers in Shanghais two airports.
