Shanghai Sightseeing Buses Serve 17 Million Tourists

Shanghai sightseeing bus, operated by Shanghai Spring Tour, has witnessed the city’s rapid development and vicissitudes since it opened to business in 2010. Now it has become one of the most attractive sightseeing activities and symbols of Shanghai.

These double-decker sightseeing buses, decorated with paintings showing famous scenic spots of shanghai, look very attractive to worldwide tourists. Ten years ago, there were only 10 sightseeing buses and 2 sightseeing routes. But now, there are 23 buses operating in 4 sightseeing routes. The number of tourism products also increased to more than 20, including one-day trip, package tour including bus tickets and tickets of scenic spots and night tour. Over the past 10 years, the sightseeing buses ran more than 10 million kilometers in total, receiving 17 million rides, among which 70 percent were from domestic tourists and 25 percent from overseas. These buses play an important role in helping tourists from home and abroad to know about Shanghai.


Shanghai is not the only city operating sightseeing buses. These buses have become an attractive scene in other cities as well, including Guangzhou, Nanjing and Xiamen.


Shanghai sightseeing bus resumed business on March 15 this year, and Shanghai Spring Tour becomes the first sightseeing bus company in the city that resumes business in the post-epidemic era. By the end of September, Shanghai sightseeing bus has received 700,000 tourists in total. As the citys tourism market recovers quickly, Shanghai sightseeing bus received 85,000 tourists during the Mid-autumn Festival and the National Days holidays this year, with a 35 percent of growth on year-on-year basis.


Shanghai Spring Tour also launched other tourism products. Micro Tour of Shanghai is one of them, inviting tourists to visit 64 roads in the city that will never be expanded. So far, more than 50,000 tourists and citizens have participated in this tour. This trip helps them learn about the citys architecture, history and stories of famous historical figures by walking on the streets.
